MERCER'S RICHEST EVENT ON WEDNESDAY THE
4TH TO INCLUDE FASTRAK LATE MODELS FOR $5,000 TO-WIN PLUS NEW YORK'S T3 ALL-STAR
MODS & STAR'S MOD LITE TOUR!
By Mike Leone
June 29, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mercer, PA.For the second straight year, Fourth of July holiday racing returns
to Mercer Raceway Park this Wednesday night. "Saluting the Red, White, & Blue"
will be the richest event in the history of Mercer Raceway Park and will feature
the FASTRAK Late Models, T3 All-Star Modified Series, and the Star's
Championship Tour for Mod Lites. It will be the first time ever these three
sanctioning bodies have appeared together. Racing begins early at 6 p.m.
Highlighting the event will be first ever appearance by the FASTRAK Late Models.
The event will be part of the inaugural Northeast Touring Series, which will pay
its champion $5,000 with the opportunity to win the $50,000 National
Championship in October. The FASTRAK Late Models will compete Wednesday in the
Yankee 40, which will be a 40-lap feature paying $5,000 to-win!
"We're very excited to be able to host the biggest FASTRAK event of the season,
which turns out to be part of the richest event ever at Mercer," stated owner
Vicki Emig. "The FASTRAK Late Models have been putting on tremendous racing in
the five Touring events as well as locally at the weekly-sanctioned tracks thus
far and we expect more of that on Wednesday with two and three-wide racing the
norm. This will be the most competitive racing you will probably see all year."
Alan Dellinger (a.k.a. Jim Dandy, Jr.) is the Series' current point leader fresh
off his first win last Saturday night at Ohio's Lakeville Speedway. Dick Barton
and John Lacki each have a pair of Touring Series victories thus far. Other top
runners like Todd Andrews, Rodney Phillips, Jay Watson, Greg Oakes, Bump Hedman,
John Watson, Mark Osburn, Steve Hollabaugh, Larry Kugel, Dave Padula, Carl
McKinney, and many more are expected. Along with the Touring Series regulars,
expect weekly racers from Raceway 7, Freedom Raceway, Dog Hollow Speedway,
McKean County Speedway, and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania's Motor Speedway to take
part.
Mike Pegher, Jr., who owns 10 career Stock victories at Mercer and numerous wins
at surrounding speedways, is eager to make his FASTRAK debut Wednesday. Other
former Stock Car racers familiar to Mercer that are part of the FASTRAK Series
include brothers Scott and Chad Myers and Tom Snyder, Jr.
The regional racers are expected to face some outsiders from the south. One
driver that called and is planning on making the trip is South Carolina racer
Scott Morgan. For more information on FASTRAK, check out the Northeast Region
website at www.fastraknortheast.com and the national website at
www.fastrakracing.com
The second of four major events for the American Racer/Lias Tire Modifieds will
also be showcased as the T3 All-Star Series makes their first of two appearances
this season. The 30-lap feature will pay $1,500 to-win, $100 to-start. The event
will be a pill draw and will utilize T3's open tire rule.
The T3 Series always brings a strong contingent of racers from northern
Pennsylvania and throughout New York state including brothers Billy and Curt
VanPelt, Mike and Stacy Jackson, Ron Cartwright, Jr., Ray Bliss, Dylan DeWert,
Bryan Terwilliger, Donnie Lawson, Gil Tegg, Jr., Dale Welty, Dave Dubois, Ron
White, Mark Frankhouser, and others. They will face stiff challenge from
Mercer's top runners including defending track champion Frank Guidace, current
point leader Rodney Beltz along with Steve Young, Jeff Schaffer, Lonny Riggs,
Brad Rapp, Kevin Hoffman, Gary Smoker, Rick Hall, Ron Eperthener, Jr., Jimmy
Holden, Garrett Krummert, Brian Fink, Matt Baker, Mike Stine, and others. Last
year 41 cars were on hand with Billy VanPelt defeating Brad Rapp.
Completing the program will be the second of three appearances by the Star's
Championship Tour for the Mod Lites. Their 20-lap feature will pay $500 to-win.
Matt Hay was the winner back on April 21 topping a 30-car field. A strong field
more than 30 cars is expected featuring all the top Mercer runners plus
outsiders from the Star's Tour and Deerfield Speedway.
All features will be a redraw for the first 12 starting spots. Positions 13-24
will be straight-up from heats races or B mains. It will be a Mercer points
event for the Modifieds and Mod Lites.
Spend your 4th of July at Mercer Raceway Park for this unique event, the richest
in Mercer Raceway Park's 56-year history featuring FASTRAK, T3, and Star's
together for the first time ever!
Pit gates open at 2:30 p.m. and grandstands at 3:30, hot laps are at 5:15, and

GEORGE WINS NON-STOP SPRINTS; HOLDEN
FINALLY WINS 1ST EVER AT MERCER; #6 FOR BOOHER IN STOCKS; JONES STEALS MOD LITE
WIN #4; FUCHS TAKES MINIS
By Mike Leone
June 23, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mercer, PA.The third straight sunny Saturday saw fans pack Mercer Raceway Park
for American Patriot Night presented by Herr's Foods. Celebrating in the Hoosier
Tire Mid-Atlantic victory lane were Rod George-Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint
Cars, Jimmy Holden-American Racer/Lias Tire Modifieds, Brian Booher-Tire Express
Stocks Cars, Rod Jones-Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, and Bill Fuchs-M&D
Paving Mini Stocks. Armstrong presented free Butler County Night plus all
veterans of war and scouts in uniform were admitted free. Fans enjoyed a
spectacular fireworks display after sunset.
Rod George's three-race win steak western Pa. circuit may have ended with a
second place finish on Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, but on Saturday
night George returned to victory lane for the fourth time in five nights earning
his 99th career win after a non-stop victory in the 20-lap Luxaire Heating &
Cooling Sprint Car feature.
"I'll you what, this track is awesome again," stated the Kittanning, Pa. winner.
"The thing was real fast around the top, real fast on the bottom. You can start
anywhere on this track and race. I tell all the young guys this is where they
should race. You can't ask for much more than that. I've got to thank all the
people for coming out to watch tonight- just an awesome race. The young guys are
running real well. I knew if I didn't get Danny (Holtgraver) there, there was no
way I'd get around him."
Gale Ruth, Jr. rocketed into the lead at the start of the event, while Brent
Matus passed teammate Joe Butera for second with Danny Holtgraver getting past
Mike Dehner and Butera for third on the opening lap. By lap three it was a
four-car race for second with Matus trying to hold off Holtgraver, Dehner, and
Mike Lutz. One lap later, eighth starter Rod George entered the mix making it
five cars battling for second.
On lap four, Holtgraver got under Matus for second and George followed in third
one lap later. George ran down Holtgraver and was right on him as the two not
only battled for second but closed on Ruth on lap six. George made a perfect
move on lap seven getting under Holtgraver then made his mount stick on the
bottom of turn four getting a great run off and down the frontstretch to slip
past Ruth for the lead.
Holtgraver worked his way by Ruth for second on lap nine and Lutz followed in
third on lap 11. Scott Bonnell, who won the June 9 event, started ninth and took
fourth from Ruth on lap 14. Back up front George had opened up more than a
straightaway lead as the laps ticked off. George had to deal with lapped traffic
on laps 15 and 16 allowing Holtgraver to close within a half-straightaway, but
the veteran was able to clear traffic and pulled back away on lap 17 and went
unchallenged the rest of the way. George's second straight win was his fourth of
season and 10th of his career at Mercer in his Dr. John Crawford III/Notary
Express/Ankle & Foot Care-sponsored #4. George continues to lead the points as
he has still yet to finish worse than second this year. The non-stop event was
timed in 4:58.92.
Holtgraver and Lutz finished second and third to George for the second straight
week. Bonnell had a solid fourth over Arnie Kent. Completing the top 10 were
Ruth, Matus, Dehner, New Jersey's Jeff Taylor, and Butera. Heat winners were
Kent and Holtgraver.
Despite winning some 13 races in his career, Jimmy Holden has been trying for
four years to win at Mercer and Saturday night the youngster finally captured
his first ever Mercer win holding off the challenges of the division's best in
the competitive 20-lap American Racer/Lias Tire Modified feature.
"This first win feels great," expressed the Tiona, Pa. driver. "This feels like
the first win of all. We've won everywhere else, just couldn't do it here. This
means a whole hell of a lot to the team. The car was strong. I thought it was
real good and the best the car has been in a long time, but I had company there
so we have some work to do."
Holden jumped to the lead past Matt Reeher, while seventh starting Garrett
Krummert took second from Reeher on lap two. Krummert closed on Holden on lap
four and the two ran side-by-side on laps five, six, and seven with Holden
holding on. Meanwhile, ninth starting Frank Guidace and eighth starting Rodney
Beltz were able to pass Reeher for third and fourth and the two also raced
side-by-side behind Holden and Krummert on lap seven with Beltz taking the
position.
Brad Rapp, who started 10th, made it a five-car race for the lead on lap seven
and then was able to slip past Guidace for fourth on lap eight. Beltz drove by
Krummert for second on lap nine and set his sights on Holden closing in on the
leader at the halfway point. Rapp looked strong going to the inside and past
Krummert for third on lap 13. One lap later Rapp charged under Beltz in turns
one and two and made the pass stick for second. Rapp quickly closed on the
leader hoping to steal a first ever win away from Holden and at the same time
get his first win of the season.
Rapp pressured Holden hard, but Holden protected the inside line and took the
checkered flag first for an impressive victory in a race that had just two
cautions. The win came in the Dean Holden-owned, Holden Oil & Gas/Hoover
Oilfield Supply/Homeland Energy-sponsored #28H and was just Holden's first top
five of the season. Rapp was second over point leader Beltz. Gary Smoker, who
started 14th, made a late charge to finish fourth after getting past Krummert on
lap 18. Krummert dropped to fifth. Rick Hall and Brad Rapp won the heats.
Like a broken record, Brian Booher returned to victory lane for the second
straight week and track-leading sixth time of the season in the 15-lap Tire
Express Stock Car feature. "This car has been really good this year," stated the
Sandy Lake, Pa. winner. "They helped us out this year by lowering the weight to
3,000 pounds. That's a big help. I have to thank my sponsors and my crew. That's
the best crew down there."
Terry Wheeler raced past Russ Byler for the early lead. Booher, who started
ninth, made his way to third on lap six before the event's first and only
caution when Bryan Shaffer slid into the water barrels. When racing resumed,
Byler surprisingly overtook the veteran Wheeler. Booher then edged ahead of
Wheeler for second on lap eight and closed on the leader. Booher and Byler ran
side-by-side on laps 10, 11, and 12 for the lead before Byler slipped high in
turn two allowing Booher to snatch the lead away on lap 12.
Booher then pulled away in the Terry Hoover-owned, Ed & Jerry's Auto
Service/Harry & Tim's Roofing/Brad McEwen Garage Doors-sponsored #00H for his
26th career win, which is tops in the division since the track reopened in 1994.
"I was waiting on him (Byler) to make a mistake and hoping he would," explained
Booher. "He's running real good and fast and he held his line."
Byler, who has limited experience in a Micro Sprint, was a career best second in
his first season in a full-size car. Wheeler dropped to third over Rod Laskey
and Chris Haines. Bryan Shaffer and Booher topped the heat races.
Todd Canter "can't" buy a win. Last week Canter all but had his first win sewed
up until his steering broke on lap 13. Saturday night, a caution with one lap to
go allowed Rod Jones to steal his fourth win of the season away from Canter in
the 15-lap Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites.
Bill Stivason led his first ever lap before fifth starting Lynn Knepper made the
pass for the lead on lap two. Canter, who started ninth, grabbed second from
Stivason on lap three. Following a restart, Canter overtook Knepper for the lead
on lap four while 11th starting Jones moved to third past Jarred Barclay.
Jones of West Middlesex, Pa. and last week's winner Mark Marcucci moved past
Knepper for second and third on laps five and seven respectively. Jones closed
on Canter on lap 12, but Canter pulled back away on laps 13 and 14. Canter
appeared headed to the victory, but Ben Black brought out just the event's
second caution setting up a one-lap shootout to the finish. Jones got a good
restart on the outside to grab the lead. Canter fought back off turn four, but
came up just one car-length short at the checkered. Jones' sixth career win came
in the Dave Jones-owned, Jones Performance Products-owned #820. Marcucci was
third to maintain his point lead. George Englert was fourth in just his second
start over Knepper and Angie Grzelak, who fought back from an early spin. Heat
winners over the 20-car field were Marcucci and Center.
Bill Fuchs of Greenville, Pa. won his first career race topping a season-high
15-car field in the M&D Paving Mini Stocks. Fuchs survived four cautions leading
from green-to-checkered in the 12-lap feature in his #10. Pete Wearing started
ninth and placed second after passing John Hartman for second on lap six.
Hartman was third over Cameron McQuown and Don D'Onofrio. The results are
unofficial pending a technical ruling this week concerning tires. Heat winners
were Hartman and Wearing.

FULL NIGHT OF RACING PLUS FIREWORKS
SATURDAY AT MERCER; ALL VETERANS, SCOUTS, & BUTLER COUNTY RESIDENTS ADMITTED
FREE
By Mike Leone
June 20, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mercer, PA.Mercer Raceway Park's annual American Patriot Night presented by
Herr's Foods will be held at the track again this Saturday night, June 23. A
complete program of Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, American Racer/Lias
Tire Modifieds, Tire Express Stock Cars, Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, and
the M&D Paving Mini Stocks will be on the racing card at 7 p.m. To compliment
the night, a spectacular fireworks display will be put on after sunset to
celebrate the upcoming Independence Day holiday.
For the third straight year a free Butler County Night will admit all residents
of the county into the grandstands for free general admission free. A valid
driver's license or identification card is required for adults showing a city in
Butler County. All accompanying children will be admitted free as well. The
promotion is presented and promoted once again by Armstrong.
For the eighth consecutive year, all veterans of war and active servicemen will
be admitted free into the grandstands with identification. In the past, around
200 veterans have enjoyed the night as a guest of Mercer Raceway Park. Also, all
scouts in uniform will be granted free admission.
"We always enjoy hosting American Patriot Night," stated owner Vicki Emig. "Our
fireworks show is always enjoyed by many and it's a perfect night to have the
veterans, scouts, and Butler County residents as our guests. The night just
keeps getting bigger and bigger every year and we have to thank Armstrong for
helping us to promote it."
Rod George has been on fire of late in the Sprint Car division. The Kittanning
driver won for the third time last Saturday night as his win was sandwiched
between victories at Lernerville and Tri-City Speedways giving him 98 in his
career. George, who has yet to finish worse than second at Mercer this season,
leads wingless winner Arnie Kent by 22 points in search of his second track
championship.
After running double features last week, which were swept by Gary Smoker, the
Modified point race got shook up. Two-time winner Rodney Beltz of Ellwood City,
Pa. jumped to the point lead by six over Rick Hall and Steve Young.
Brian Booher of Sandy Lake, Pa. won his track-leading fifth feature of the
season last Saturday night, but more importantly his milestone 25th of his
career put him atop the Stock Car win list since the track reopened in 1994.
Booher has an 18-point lead over two-time winner Andy Buckley, who has 24 career
wins, in search of his unprecedented third straight title.
Mark Marcucci of West Middlesex, Pa. got two big breaks last Saturday night.
First point leader Rod Jones was a no-show and secondly race leader Todd Canter,
who appeared headed for his first ever win at the track, broke with just over
two laps to go. Marcucci was the benefactor of both, as he went on to his second
win and took over the point lead by just one over Kenny Meadows and three over
Doug Stanley.
Back on April 21, Lucas Sprouse was the lone Mini Stock to appear for the new
division's first event. Last Saturday night, the Elkton, Ohio driver topped a
season-high 14-car field for his fourth win of the season and opened up a
20-point lead on Leland Haylett. A total of 18 different cars have participated.
Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. and grandstands at 4:30, hot laps are at 6:15, and
racing begins at 7. Adult admission is $11. Students 6-15 are $5. Children five
and under are always free. The family pass, which admits mom, dad, and up to
four kids, is $25. Pit passes are $25.

GEORGE KEEPS ON WINNING IN SPRINTS; SMOKER
SWEEPS MODIFIED FEATURES; BUCKLEY FIRST TO 5 WINS IN STOCKS; MARCUCCI & SPROUSE
WIN IN MOD LITES & MINIS
By Mike Leone
June 16, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mercer, PA.The second straight sunny Saturday saw fans pack Mercer Raceway Park
for $10 family night presented by Armstrong. Celebrating in the Hoosier Tire
Mid-Atlantic victory lane were Rod George-Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars,
Gary Smoker-American Racer/Lias Tire Modifieds and May 19 make-up, Brian Booher-Tire
Express Stocks Cars, Mark Marcucci-Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lites, and Lucas
Sprouse-M&D Paving Mini Stocks. Fans flocked the speedway during intermission
for "Meet Your Heroes" night as all cars and drivers were present for pictures
and autographs. Howard Michaels, who reopened the speedway back in 1994 after it
sat dormant for five years and operated Mercer through the 1996 season, passed
away after suffering a heart attack in an automobile accident on Friday and was
remembered Saturday night.
Three months ago it didn't appear as Rod George was even going to compete in
2007. Thanks to the help of former Sprint Car owner Dr. John Crawford III,
George is back on the circuit and winning frequently. Saturday night, George
charged from the 11th starting to pass Danny Holtgraver to win his third 20-lap
Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Car feature of the year and more impressively
his eighth of the season overall after also winning at Lernerville Speedway
Friday night.
"That was a lot of fun," expressed the Kittanning, Pa. winner. "Danny (Holtgraver)
kind of slipped up a little bit and gave us our shot. He did a great job and
that's just a lack of a little patience. He's young and he'll be real fast in
years to come. We've had a great year. We weren't even going to run, but we got
some help and everything is coming together. We've got our motor in from 1995
that Jimmy Hawley ran."
The race got off to a slow start as two accidents in turn one slowed action on
the first lap. Mike Dehner and newcomer Jeremy Cook were involved in both with
Cook getting upside down the second time. Charlie Holben, Gale Ruth, Jr., Joe
Butera were also involved, but would return to action.
When racing resumed, there would be no more stoppages as the race went
green-to-checkered. Mike Lutz was trying to end his bad start to the season in
his new ride- Troy Preston's #1P. Lutz jumped out to the early lead over
two-time winner Danny Holtgraver with Davey Jones trailing. George was up to
fourth after the completion of the first lap then passed Jones for third on lap
two. Lutz and Holtgraver had broken away from the pack as George was a
straightaway back when he advanced to third.
Lutz ran the top of the speedway, while Holtgraver was working the bottom as the
veteran continued to hold off the youngster, while George began to close in on
lap five. By lap eight it was a three-car race for the lead and it was that lap
that Holtgraver snuck past Lutz off the outside of turn four for the lead. On
lap 10, Lutz slipped off turn two allowing George to blast by for second.
Holtgraver was running the cushion, while George ran his custom inside line as
George closed on Holtgraver on lap 11. George made his winning move on lap 12
diving underneath Holtgraver, who missed his mark in turn three. George drove a
perfect race through lapped traffic and went on for his 10th career Mercer win
in his Dr. John Crawford III/Notary Express/Ankle & Foot Care-sponsored #4.
George is now just three wins away from 100 career Sprint Car wins and continues
to lead the points in search of his second championship and has yet to finish
worse than second this season.
Holtgraver was second. Lutz held off fast-closing Arnie Kent and Rob Eyler, who
came from the back after pitting, to finish third. Troy Little of Sydney, NSW,
Australia came from 16th to finish sixth in his first ever appearance.
Completing the top 10 were Jones, Bryan Grove, Brent Matus, and Holben. Heat
winners over the 16-car field were Kent and Lutz.
Gary Smoker has been off to a slow start in 2007, but the 2005 champion ended
that on Saturday night as he swept both 20-lap American Racer/Lias Tire Modified
features for his first wins of the season. "It's Father's Day Weekend so I have
to thank all the dads and servicemen that are over fighting for our country,
while we're here enjoying life," stated the Mercer, Pa. racer.
In the first feature, Smoker inherited the lead on lap five back on May 19 when
leader Garrett Krummert had problems right before the rains came. When the race
resumed Saturday night, Smoker led the final 15 non-stop laps in the D&D
Racing-owned, Kristyak's Service Plaza/MBMR Inc./High Reach/Omac Inc.-sponsored
#516 for his first win since August 4 of last season. Defending champion, Frank
Guidace, who has also been off to slow start in his new Troyer car was a
season-best second after passing Jimmy Holden for the spot on lap six. Lonny
Riggs, who started 13th, inherited third on lap eight when Holden exited and
would hold off Rick Hall and 12th starting Brad Rapp for third.
Smoker came back later in the night to make a clean sweep winning the regularly
scheduled 20-lapper with a thrilling late race pass of Rodney Beltz. "I dug on
the bottom, dug on the bottom, dug on the bottom," explained Smoker. "There was
just nothing there I just spun, spun, spun the tires so I went to the top to see
what was up there and it worked. I have to thank my Lord and savior Jesus
Christ, who kept me safe all night long."
Ron Eperthener, Jr. led the first five laps before Beltz took over following a
restart on lap six. Smoker, who started second, fell back to as far as fourth
before taking third back from Riggs on lap seven. Eperthener spun on lap eight
ensuing a six-car melee in turns three and four. The accident moved Smoker to
second and Guidace to third. It appeared Beltz was headed for his third win of
the season until Smoker began to close in on the leader on lap 17 running the
outside. Two cautions with 18 laps completed put Smoker alongside Beltz for the
restart.
When racing resumed, Smoker was able to sneak around Beltz then held off an
attempted slide job and valiant effort by Beltz to capture his leading 11th win
in the division and 39th of his career at Mercer. After restarting on the tail
on lap eight, Rapp had an impressive run to the front. He moved into the top
five on lap 16 past Rick Hall, took fourth from Kevin Hoffman on lap 18, and
finally grabbed the third spot on lap 19 from Guidace. Guidace and Hall were
fourth and fifth. Eric Gabany won his first career heat race and Smoker also won
his heat race over the 19-car field.
Brian Booher continued his winning ways in the Stock Cars winning his track
leading fifth of the season in the 15-lap Tire Express event overtaking Shaun
Hooks on the next-to-last lap. "I want to wish my dad and all the fathers out
there a happy Father's Day and thank my crew and sponsors," said the Sandy Lake,
Pa. resident. "We have a real fast hot rod right now. I didn't think I was going
to get him (Hooks). His car was running real good tonight. When he went to the
low side, I went to the top and gave it all I had."
Hooks led the field to green once again aboard Clyde Roberts' #33c and set the
early pace. Booher, who started eighth, was able to pass both Mark Sanders and
Russ Byler on lap five for second following the event's only caution. Booher
closed on Hooks on lap six and the standouts put on an excellent race over the
final nine laps. Booher got under Hooks in turn one on lap nine only to see
Hooks maintain the lead. The duo then raced side-by-side for the lead on lap 12
with Hooks managing to hold on. With three laps to go, Andy Thompson, Jason
Reagle, and Andy Buckley closed on Hooks and Booher making it a five-car race
for the lead. Booher and Hooks again were side-by-side on lap 14 and it was then
that Booher had enough momentum to get past Hooks off turn two.
Booher would lead the final two laps in the Terry Hoover-owned, Ed & Jerry's
Auto Service/Harry & Tim's Roofing/Brad McEwen Garage Doors-sponsored #00H to
collect his milestone 25th career win, which puts him back on top the division's
win list since the track reopened in 1994. Hooks was second for the second
straight week. Thompson edged newcomer Reagle and last week's winner Andy
Buckley for third. Booher and Buckley won the heats over the 16-car field.
Mark Marcucci was the benefactor of Todd Canter's misfortunes to win his second
of the season in the 15-lap Big Daddy's Speed Center Mod Lite feature. Canter,
who started eighth, made some great move to overtake all the cars starting in
front of him to lead the opening lap with rookie Chad Yeager and Angie Grzelak
trailing. Grzelak and Meadows both passed Yeager for second and third on lap
two. Grzelak slipped high off turn four and got into the frontstretch wall on
lap three allowing Meadows and Marcucci by for second and third.
Marcucci slipped under Meadows for second on lap seven. Canter appeared headed
to his first ever win at the track, but on lap 13 his steering broke and sent
him spinning in turn four. Under caution, his teammate Meadows also exited the
event. Marcucci led the final three laps in his father's D&M Excavating &
Construction/Harper & Houston Masonry/Ernie's Transmissions-sponsored #8M. Jeff
Teeters subbed for Ben Black and was second after starting 14th. Tenth starting
Doug Stanley was third after passing Grzelak on lap 13. Grzelak held off Levi
Spinneweber for fourth as both racers recording their season's best efforts.
Stanley and Canter won the heats over the 17-car field.
Lucas Sprouse captured his fourth win of the season in the 12-lap M&D Paving
Mini Stock feature. The Elkton, Ohio driver started ninth and charged up to
second past Dan Nagy on lap six. Sprouse made the winning move on lap eight
taking the lead away from Pete Wearing. Sprouse went on for the victory in his
#23s. Wearing was second over Mike Anderson (Jr.). In just his second career
start, Don D'Onofrio was fourth before his car went up in a blaze of fire in the
pit area. Nagy, who led the first four laps, finished fifth. Sprouse and
Anderson won the heats over the season-high 14 cars.

2007 NORTHEAST FASTRAK LATE MODEL CHAMPION
TO RECEIVE $5,000; SCHEDULING UNDERWAY WITH 15-RACE NORTHEAST TOURING SLATE TO
FEATURE $5,000 TO-WIN EVENT ON JULY 4 AT MERCER
By Mike Leone
(Pulaski, PA). In a major announcement following the Fastrak Racing Series
corporate meeting recently held in Atlanta, Georgia with officials from across
the country, each regional touring Late Model champion will be awarded a minimum
of $5,000 from amongst a posted point fund per region. Also, one of the
Northeast Region's biggest races will take place on July 4 at Mercer Raceway
Park paying a whopping $5,000 to-win!
The 15-race Northeast Region Touring Events will pay a minimum of $1,200 to-win
culminated by the crowning of the $5,000 2007 champion. In addition, the touring
point scale will pay identical points as the weekly Fastrak-sanctioned speedways
toward sending drivers to the $350,000 National Championship.
All Fastrak weekly and touring champions will receive three points with two
points awarded for second and one point for third. Drivers who compete in 51% of
the events will be awarded one loyalty point and an additional loyalty point
will be awarded for drivers who had perfect attendance. Thus the most points a
driver can head to the Nationals with is five and the least being one.
"Once again any driver that competes in 51% of the races scheduled at a weekly
Fastrak-sanctioned speedway or the regional touring series has the ability to
compete at the Nationals to become the $50,000 National Champion," explained
Northeast Region Co-Director Mike Leone. "Originally we were under the
assumption that the loyalty points were only awarded to drivers finishing in the
top three in points and we miss-conveyed that. This is great news to all local
racers as it gives them the opportunity to compete in the Grand Nationals and
race for increased purses against drivers from all over the nation even if they
do not earn enough points to share in the National point fund."
In other news, it was determined that Mercer Raceway Park will host a major
event on the Fourth of July. The midweek special will pay $5,000 to-win and is
expected to draw in racers from other regions for the lucrative purse! A second
touring event is also in the planning stages with a date to be determined.
"Even though we won't be running the Fastrak Late Models on a weekly basis at
Mercer Raceway Park I wanted to host at least one Touring event," explained
Northeast Co-Director and Mercer Raceway Park owner Vicki Emig. "We penciled in
the Fourth of July and after our meeting in Atlanta with founder Stan Lester we
worked out the details so we can host a major event with five-grand going to the
winner! The date and neutral site should make for an interesting event. Couple
that with New York's T3 All-Star Modified Series and the Star's Championship Mod
Lites and this will be a huge blockbuster event."
The Fastrak Late Model Racing Series features 11 regions throughout the United
States. The new Northeast Region was formed in November and will begin
competition in 2007. Thus far Freedom Raceway in Delevan, New York, Raceway 7 in
Conneaut, Ohio, McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pennsylvania and Dog
Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, Pennsylvania have signed on to be weekly Fastrak-sanctioned
speedways. There is still a possibility of one or two more speedways signing on.
The 15-race Northeast Touring schedule is in the process of being scheduled.
Numerous speedways have shown an interest in being part of the inaugural season.
The season-ending National Championship was discussed at the Atlanta meeting.
Three tracks possibly in three different states that will likely take place in
late October will determine the $50,000 champion amongst the $350,000 point
fund.
"We came up with some preliminary possibilities," stated Leone. "Three speedways
have already requested to be part of the Grand Nationals. All three are in a
central location to Fastrak speedways throughout the country and should be very
appealing to racers in the Northeast although nothing has been set in stone."
Stay tuned for further press releases and updates in the coming weeks. For more
information on Fastrak, check out their website at
www.fastrakracing.com. Fastrak
Northeast's office is located at 4368 Route 422, Pulaski, PA 16143 and can be
reached out at 724-964-9300.
Fastrak was born in 2004 with five Late Models and grew to several hundred
racers at 26 different weekly tracks in 2006. Those numbers are already on the
rise for 2007 with 11 regions and possibly 50 weekly speedways. Fastrak is
already in the development stages of an E-Mod and Winged Sprint Car division.
EXCITEMENT CONTINUES TO GROW DAILY FOR
FASTRAK IN NORTHEAST; WEEKLY RACING & TOURING SERIES TO DETERMINE ELIGIBLE
RACERS FOR $50,000 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
By Mike Leone
December 9, 2006
(Pulaski, PA).Racing fastest growing series, Fastrak, is quickly gaining
momentum in its newest region- the Northeast. The Northeast Region was born on
November 26 after Raceway 7, Freedom Raceway, and McKean County Raceway
announced the addition of the Fastrak Late Models for the upcoming 2007 season,
and the buzz has been in the air ever since.
"The response thus far has really been unbelievable," stated co-director Vicki
Emig. "We're getting calls and e-mails every day from racers wanting information
and to be added to our lists. I think a lot of people may be surprised at the
caliber of drivers that are not only interested in Fastrak, but will be
competing in the Series. Manufacturers have also been calling wanting to get on
board and participate in the Touring Series."
While the three northern tracks are already on board, three other tracks have
shown an interest in Fastrak for 2007 and it is expected that at least one of
them will go Fastrak.
"The perfect scenario would be six weekly tracks with drivers having two options
in their immediate area, which would compliment a 15-race Touring Series,"
expressed co-director Mike Leone. "We're looking at three different purse
structures for the Series with a minimum $1,200 to-win and a hopeful $12,000
point fund. These events will not conflict with weekly series events enabling
what should be strong car counts and the best of the best at each venue. We'll
be contacting other non-weekly Fastrak speedways in the hopes of schedule
touring events at those venues as well. Ohio's Lakeville Speedway, which will
running Fastrak E-Mods, contacted us about having a Fastrak Late Model touring
event."
One touring event that is expected will be at Mercer Raceway Park on Wednesday,
July 4. Joining the Fastrak Late Models in this blockbuster event will be New
York's T3 All-Star Modified Series and TUSA's Mod Lite Championship Stars'
Series. It's also a very good possibility that a second touring event will be
hosted at Mercer once the schedules are worked out.
"Not to be lost is that one of our local racers will have just as good of a shot
at winning a minimum $50,000 following the Grand Nationals at the end of the
season as any other Fastrak driver in the nation," explained Leone. "There
aren't many series that pay $50,000 to its champion in general let alone coming
from the weekly racer. Last year's national point fund was $250,000 alone and
the goal this year is $325,000 with the ultimate goal of a $1,000,000 point fund
in 2010."
One concern that some have had is the ongoing strike at Goodyear, but the supply
of tires will not be a problem for the Fastrak Series according to founder Stan
Lester. Goodyear tires may or may not be mandatory at weekly series events
depending on the individual track's preference. Champions at Goodyear-mandated
tracks will receive $1,000 from corporate rather than $500 from non-Goodyear
tracks. Goodyears will be mandatory on all touring events.
"There are still some questions that we do not yet have answers for," explained
Emig. "A lot of this will be determined following meetings at next weekend's PRI
Show. By the first of the year all of the rules will be finalized and details
will be released on the National scale."

FASTRAK TO INVADE NORTH IN 2007; NORTHEAST
REGION FORMED WITH TOURING LATE MODEL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES TO COMPLIMENT WEEKLY
RACING
By Mike Leone
November 27, 2006
(Pulaski, PA).Auto racing's fastest growing series has a new home. The Fastrak
Racing Series, which spans from the Pacific Northwest, across the upper Midwest
and down through the South, has added the Northeast Region to its expanding
list. The Northeast Region is the 11th region under the Fastrak umbrella and
will be managed and directed by Vicki Emig and Mike Leone.
The Fastrak Northeast Region Championship Series will be highlighted by a
hopeful 15-race slate of events paying a minimum $1,200 to-win throughout
western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and western New York, which will compliment
the weekly racing series. Thus far Conneaut, Ohio's Raceway 7, Smethport,
Pennsylvania's McKean County Raceway, and Delevan's Freedom Raceway have already
signed on with the Fastrak Late Models being their headlining division and a
couple other additional speedways possibly joining the Fastrak fold.
"After talking with various promoters, drivers, and other industry leaders, I
felt Vicki and Mike and were best to lead the Northeast Region," explained
Fastrak founder Stan Lester. "They understand all aspects of racing, know the
region and its racers, and have a clear vision of the future of Fastrak and
racing in that region. I'm quite confident in their abilities. Vicki has been
involved in all areas of racing for the past 40-plus years by owning race cars
and operating Mercer Raceway Park the past eight seasons Mike has been around
racing for over 25 years in various capacities."
Drivers will accumulate points at their weekly speedways and the regional events
toward the three-day $50,000 Grand National event that was held this past season
at three tracks over three days in the South, which culminated at South
Carolina's Lancaster Speedway. The National event then determines the $50,000
champion amongst a $250,000 point fund. Along with each individual track's point
fund, there will also be a regional point fund. Last year's $50,000 National
Championship was won by local racer, Steve Lamance, with a 1999 car and a $5,000
engine. Lamance also won a new Mastersbuilt chassis.
"I just appreciate all Fastrak has done not just for me, but for racing in
general," stated Lamance. "I struggled the last few years I ran Supers. I won
races, but it just wasn't fun anymore. Fastrak has made it affordable again to
race. It takes the pressure off and you can have fun again doing this. I can't
believe how the Fastrak Series has grown. I know Stan struggled to get people on
board in the beginning and everyone thought he had lost his mind but he never
stopped. Actually he never stopped believing in the drivers. That's what Fastrak
really is about. Having fun and taking care of everyone along the way. Now with
the $250,000 in 06 and Fastrak talking about it being even more in 2007 who
knows where this thing will go? I really think we are looking at the next
NASCAR."
"This all came about very quickly," explained Vicki Emig. "First off much credit
goes to Scott Myers for taking the initiative of first attending the National
Championship at Lancaster Speedway then getting the ball rolling with the local
promoters and organizing Stan's presentation a couple weeks ago. We liked Stan's
philosophy and vision for not only his series, but for the future for racing.
It's no secret that local racing is struggling throughout the country from all
sides of the fence. We feel Fastrak Northeast can be a win-win for everyone- the
drivers, the speedways, and the fans. The proof is in the South and there's no
reason it can't flourish here. Our job is to be the liaison people and
informational center so everything can flow smoothly."
"I was sold on the Fastrak Late Models after attending my first race at Lowe's
Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina earlier this month," revealed Mike
Leone. "I honestly went to watch the Sprint Cars and didn't have any
expectations of the Fastrak Late Models, but with nearly 60 cars on hand for the
$2,000 to-win event it was clearly the best race of the six divisions on hand
and was one of the best Late Model races I've seen in some time. The top five
cars raced two and three-wide the entire race, there was racing all through the
pack in the competitive field, only one car was lapped which didn't happen until
turn three on the last lap, and there were just three cautions."
A mass mailing will be sent to regional Late Model, E-Mod, and Stock Car racers
as well as all of the regional speedways detailing additional information about
Fastrak's program and the Northeast Region. Stay tuned for further press
releases and updates throughout the winter months. For more information on
Fastrak, check out their website at
