A “New” Billet in the Late Model Victory
Lane at SSP on Stock Car Saturday Night; Morgan, Rial, Sipe and Knaub Also Pick
Up Victories
Newberrytown, PA (June 23, 2007) – Stock Car Saturday night at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park found Steve Billet, son of current SSP point leader Carl Billet,
picking up his first career win in the 20-lap Late Model feature with a last lap
pass of Jeremy Knoll. Paul Morgan won the Street Stock feature event over the
“new father,” Wes Alleman. Sam Rial passed current point leader Michael Goodwin
on a restart with two laps to go to win the Xtreme Stock Car feature event.
Daryl Sipe picked up the in the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature. Kendra
Knaub led the most laps for the win in the Women on Wheels (W.O.W.) Stock Car
Summer Championship. Ricky Hippensteel won the won XSC Rookie Rumble race.
In the 20-lap Late Model feature event, Jeremy Knoll jumped out to the early
lead over Steve Billet. A caution on the second lap for a spinning John Moser,
Jr. regrouped the field. On the restart, Knoll continued to lead over Billet and
Sam Leonard, Jr. Meanwhile, a lot of action found side-by-side battles for
position thoughout the rest of the field. The green stayed out until another
caution on lap 15 found Darrel Henry spinning coming off turn four. On the
ensuing restart, Billet was unable to find the fast way around Knoll.
Fortunately for Billet, he had one last chance to make the pass for the lead
when the caution once again flew with one lap to go in the race. The third time
was the charm as Billet was able to get by Knoll going into turn one and held on
to the lead to pick up his first career win. Knoll held on to a close second
behind Billet with Carl Billet finishing third. Jake Jones and Scott Richwine
finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Rounding out the top ten was Sam
Leonard, Jr., Chuck Yingling, Charles Potts, Carl Graves and Justn Ehrhart.
In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, Dustin Hollinger jumped out to the early
lead for the second week in a row and didn’t look back in the early stages of
the race. As in last week’s feature event, there were many two, three and four
battles all the way back to the last spot. A caution on lap four bunched up the
field. Hollinger once again continued to lead after the restart, but Paul Morgan
snatched it away on the eighth circuit from Hollinger. Morgan started fifth.
Morgan continued to lead for the remainder of the race to pick up his second SSP
win of the season. The hard charger was Wes Alleman who came all the way from
eleventh to finish in the runner-up spot behind Morgan. Brian Hauenstein, Steven
Dove and Scott Thunberg rounded out the top five.
In the 30-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature, John Scrivens was the leader for the
first three laps. Travis Horan took the lead from Scrivens on lap 4 and
continued to lead for the next 20 laps with Mike Goodwin stalking him the entire
time. On the 26th lap, Goodwin finally made the pass to take the lead away from
Horan. Horan did not give up and continued to challenge for the lead, however,
on lap 28, Horan spun coming out of turn four. On the double file restart, each
driver may choose either the inside or outside row before they take the green.
Goodwin chose the high side and Sam Rial moved to the inside on the restart with
2 laps to go. When the green came out, Rial jumped into the lead and never
looked back to pick up the win over Goodwin. Donnie Broderick finished third.
Brent Fogelsanger and Scrivens rounded out the top five.
Kendra Knaub won the 20-lap Women on Wheels Summer Championship after battling
runner-up Beth Burhman side-by-side for the lead early in the race. Karen
Hawthorne finished third. Kim Flanagan and Renee Luckenbaugh rounded out the top
five.
In a wild 15-lap Classic Car feature event, Brian Diehl led from start to finish
from his pole position starting spot. Second place finisher Jack Yingling was
penalized to the tail of the lead lap after spinning Al Daniels coming out of
the fourth turn on the final lap. This put Charlie Summers as the runner-up
finisher, followed by Bill Brown, Sr., Jim Crocker and Kevin Palmer.
Daryl Sipe won the 10-lap York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature over David
Snelbaker, Brnadon Ort, Butch Richcreek and Lance Donmoyer.
Ricky Hippensteel won the 15-lap XSC Rookie Rumble over Alex Updegraff and Matt
Sowers.
Linda Klinger of Camp Hill took the ride of her life as she was last week’s
winner for the Superior Home Race Car Ride-Along with Ray Broderick. She
received a few three laps in the passenger seat of Ray’s Xtreme Stock Car.
Everyweek one ticket will be drawn from the adult general admission tickets to
win a ride for the week after. This week’s winner for the ride-along on
Saturday, June 30 is Angel Hunt of Wellsville.

Stock Cars and The Great American School Bus race.

Stock Car Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA (June 16, 2007) – Stock Car Saturday night at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park found Carl Billet in victory lane after the 20-lap Late Model
feature. Kory Sites won the Street Stock feature event after the top four cars
were eliminated from the event in a late race accident. Matt Wampler won the
Xtreme Stock Car feature event. John Stoll, Jr. was victorious in the Four
Cylinder Stock Cars feature event. Bob Campbell won the Penn Mar Vintage Car

Adam Doll the entire race. All feature event winners also each picked up a large
sub courtesy of Rock It Pizza.
In the 20-lap Late Model feature event, Randy Christine, Jr. jumped out to the
early lead over Travis McClelland and Gerry Stuttings, Jr. A caution on lap 4
found two cars collected in turn 1 and 2. On the restart, Christine continued to
lead with yet another caution flag flying on lap 5. On the restart, Sterling
Kinard moved in to take the lead on lap 6 from his sixth place staring spot.
Kinard continued to lead through a few more caution periods, but SSP point
leader, Carl Billet methodically moved his way into second by lap 14 and took
the lead from Kinard on lap 16. At the finish it was Carl Billet over Sterling
Kinard and Carl Graves. Mike Walls and Randy Christine, Jr. rounded out the top
five.
In the 20-lap Street Stock feature, Dustin Hollinger jumped out to the early
lead and didn’t look back in the early stages of the race. Fortunately he didn’t

up behind the leader.

to the rear for being caught up in the caution. This handed the lead to fifth
place runner Kory Sites.
When action resumed, Sites pulled out to a five car lead over a four car battle
between Joey Hoffer, Steve Dove, Gary Johnston and Joe Whiteley. A caution on
lap 18 bunched the field up yet again behind Sites. At the finish, Kory Sites
held on for the win over Steven Dove, Gary Johnston, Joe Whiteley and Joey
Hoffer.

followed by Travis Horan, Matt Wampler and Sam Rial. Sam Rial took the lead on

20-lap ARDC Midget feature. Tom Mayberry won the 20-lap Central PA Legends Cars
feature event. Van Baker won the 10-lap Great American School Bus Race.
The 20-lap ARDC feature started off slow with a one car flip in turn three and
four for Eric Heydenrich. After that, the action was hot and heavy. Many
multi-car battles could be found all over the track. Scott Zipp jumped out to
the early lead.
At the midway point of the race, it was a five car battle for the lead. A
blanket could be thrown over the cars of Scott Zipp, Nick Wean, Dave Ely, Brett
Arndt and Tracy Readinger. Drivers exchanged positions such as from fourth to
the lead and visa versa lap after lap swapping positions.
On lap 14, Carey Becker spun in turns 1 & 2 to close up the field. Readinger
brought the field to the green with heavy pressure from Ely and Arndt. On the
next lap Ely finally got by Arndt and set his sights on the leader. On the final
lap Ely tried Readinger high in turn 1 & 2 and was unable to make the pass.
Going into turn 3 & 4, Ely went low under Readinger and at the line, Ely was
declared the winner by less than three inches over Readinger. Arndt finished
third, followed by Nick Wean and Frank Polimeda.
In the 20-lap Central PA Legends Cars feature event, Tyler Bear jumped out to
the early lead when a caution came out after the first lap. On the restart, Bear
continued to lead over Tom Mayberry and Randy Kissinger. At the midway point
restart, Bear continued to hold off the challenges from Mayberry. Every lap,
Bear made the high side work as Mayberry went low. Mayberry finally made the
winning pass with two laps to go and picked up the win.
Two open wheel veterans, Smokey Snelbaker and Brian Earnst failed to qualify in
their first night out in the Legends Cars. Snelbaker had a qualifying spot in
the consolation with two laps to go but was involved in a two car spin. He made
his way back to seventh, one spot out of qualifying in the last two laps.

Richwine, Morgan, Pensinger, Brown and
Richcreek All Visit Victory Lane at SSP on Saturday Night
Newberrytown, PA (June 9, 2007) – Stock Car Saturday night at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park found Scott Richwine picking up his second Late Model feature win
of the season. Paul Morgan visited victory lane for the first time this season
in the Street Stock division. Charlie Pensinger finally picked up an Xtreme
Stock Car feature after a long drought. Butch Richcreek returned to victory lane
in the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van race. Kevin Armstrong won the XSC Rookie
Rumble feature.
John Baker jumped out to the early lead from the pole position in the 20-lap
Late Model feature event. Numerous cautions throughout the race slowed the pace,
but the most serious came when Sterling Kinard slowed in the middle of heavy
traffic coming out of turn four with a broken ball joint leaving no where for
Gary Potts, Kyle Saylor and Sam Leonard to go. All drivers were uninjured. Scott
Richwine was able to eventually make his way to the front and on the 15th
circuit, he took the lead away from Baker. Richwine held on for the win over
Gene Wrightstone and Jake Jones. Carl Billet finished fourth after starting 24th
in the feature. Billet continues to hold onto the SSP point lead by 38 points
over Richwine. Baker recorded his best finish of the season in fifth place. Carl
Graves, Al Shawver, Justin Ehrhardt, Steve Billet and Charles Potts rounded out
the top ten.
A caution filled 20-lap Street Stock event found Paul Morgan taking the lead
from Steven Dove on lap 3. A caution for a spinning Jenn Scott in turn four on
lap 7 regrouped the field. On the restart, Morgan continued to lead over Steven
Dove. Another caution on lap 9 for a three car in turn four slowed the pace.
Morgan was able to hold onto the lead through a few more cautions. At the end,
Paul Morgan was victorious over his brother Craig Morgan. Brian Hauenstein
finished third with Gary Johnston and Joey Hoffer rounding out the top five.
Craig Morgan’s second place finish moved him into a tie for the season long
points battle with Joe Whitely.
In the 5-lap Clean Technologies Young Guns Shootout, Joey Hoffer picked up the
win with a last lap pass over second place finisher Jenn Scott. Calvin Herman
finished third, followed by Garrett Shover, Dave Thompson, Jr. and Chad Smith.
Chad Smith and Eric Walker continue to be tied for the lead in the six round
series although Smith finished last in the race and Walker was absent from the
speedway on Saturday night. Each of them have 17 points. Hoffer closed up the
battle as he now has 15 points. Dave Thompson has 9 points in fourth, followed
by Calvin Herman and Jenn Scott, each with 8 points and Garrett Shover with 4
points. Three more races remain in the six-race series.
For the second straight week, the 30-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature was exciting
for the entire race from start to finish. On the start, Tim Hahn jumped out to
the early lead from his fifth place starting position. Matt Wampler moved around
Hahn on lap 3 for the lead. Wampler continued to lead until a caution on lap 11
slowed the field. Under caution, transmission problems eliminated Wampler from
the race before it could be restarted. Thomas Johns assumed the lead and led the
next two laps until Charlie Pensinger took the lead on lap 14. Side-by-side
racing all over the track continued for the next 12 laps.
A wild five car battle for the lead ensued until a caution on lap 26 slowed the
field for a four lap shoot out to the finish. On the double file restart, the
leader Pensinger chose the outside front row and this put Goodwin on the inside.
Pensinger continued to lead with Donnie Broderick moving into second but was
unable to get by Pensinger for the win. Pensinger picked up his first win of the
season, with Broderick following in second. Sam Rial ran a good, hard race for
third. Goodwin settled for fourth and Larry Landis finished fifth. Kevin
Armstrong won his third XSC Rookie Rumble race and now must compete in the
regular Xtreme Stock Car feature for the remainder of the season.
Bill Brown, Sr. won again in the Classic Cars by overtaking Joe Snodgrass with
two laps to go. Snodgrass finished second. Brian Diehl, Kurt Welsh and Jack
Yingling rounded out the top five.
In the 10-lap Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature, Butch Richcreek picked up
his second win of the season over current SSP point leader Brandon Ort. Daryl
Sipe finished third with David Snelbaker and Tana Reisinger rounding out the top
five.
The next event will be Thursday night, June 14 with the return of the wingless
ARDC Midgets and Legends Cars. The second Great American School Bus race will
also take place that night. Both DIRTcar Racing NorthEast and Susquehanna
Speedway Park officials reached a mutual agreement today to postpone the Advance
Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series event for Big-Block Modifieds originally
scheduled on June 14 at the Newberrytown, PA oval. Further details of a future
date regarding Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series event will be released in

Racing Continues at SSP This Saturday
Night; 2007 Schedule Restructuring is Announced
Newberrytown, PA (May 29, 2007) – A soft economy resulting in less disposable
income for family entertainment, rising gas prices and business miscues have
left Todd and Rhonda Fisher, the owners of the Susquehanna Speedway Park, to
make some tough decisions to reorganize the remainder of the 2007 racing events
schedule. Racing will continue at the 54 year old speedway, which just
celebrated its 100th race event a few weeks ago under the direction of the
Fishers, but it will be scaled back to one night of weekly racing along with
special events throughout the season. Many of the events already scheduled will
remain unchanged.
SSP will continue racing every Saturday night with strong support from the Late
Models, Street Stocks and Xtreme Stock Cars. Other divisions such as the Legends
Cars, Classic Cars, Penn Mar Vintage Cars, Women on Wheels Stock Cars, Four
Cylinder Stock Cars, Mini Vans and School Buses will be rotated on Saturdays.
All previously announced point funds and awards for the Late Models, Street
Stocks and Xtreme Stocks will stay intact with no changes.
The added ARDC Midget races on Saturday, July 21 and September 15 are
unconfirmed at this time until a representative from the club can be contacted
and confirm the dates.
Todd Fisher stated, “I want to emphasize that we are not giving up on the ASCS
Sprints or the Super Sportsman, we are just going to take a very close look at
what can be done to give them a place to race without putting the speedway in a
deficit that it could not recover from. We want to come up with something that
both the teams and the tracks can live with. At this time, it appears that we
need to develop special events for both of these classes rather than focusing on
weekly racing for them.”
“In terms of the Super Sportsman, we do not have the opportunity to wait until
the end of the year or into next season for the support of this class to
improve. With the ASCS Sprints, there are too many adverse factors in the
Central PA area at this time to grow the series successfully on a weekly basis.
We are still totaling committed and believe in the ASCS national program.”
The future events at SSP will not be announced for the ASCS Sprints and Super
Sportsman until Mr. Fisher can speak directly with Emmett Hahn, the President of
the ASCS, and the supporting Super Sportsman teams later this week. The Super
Sportsman may or may not be included in this weekend’s scheduled activities
depending on these discussions with the current supporters.
With the numerous racing events lost to the cold and rain this season, the
Saturday night events will carry a raindate for the next day, Sunday, as long as
there is not an event already planned for that night. The start time for
Saturdays will be 7:00 p.m. and if a Sunday raindate is utilized, the start time
will be 6:00 p.m.
This Saturday night, June 2, SSP will feature the Late Models, Street Stocks,
Xtreme Stock Cars and Mini Vans. Also on the card will be the One-on-One Street
Car Drags paying $250.00 to win. Entry forms are available at sspracing.net or
by calling 717-292-1696.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night will be Adults and
Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are
$20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders.
The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a
copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
The pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Grandstand gates will open at
5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed
by last chance consolation races and feature events.
The rain-postponed Memorial Day Spectacular from Sunday night, May 27 has been
rescheduled for Sunday, August 19. The racing classes include the Central PA 358
Sprint Cars, ARDC Midgets and Legends Cars. The 20-lap 358 Sprint Car feature
event will be presented by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic from Finksburg, Maryland
paying $1,200 to the winner. Hoosier Tires will be the only tire permitted on

only. Both pit and grandstand rainchecks may be used from May 27 at any race
during the next three weeks (until Saturday, June 16) or for the race on Sunday,
August 19. Since no cars were able to qualify before the rains hit the speedway,

Regional Sprint Car feature. It was his second ASCS feature in two weeks. Larry
Hughes, Jr. won the 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. Bill Brown, Sr. won the

The ASCS Mid-Atlantic Sprint Car feature event found polesitter, Lucas Wolfe
jumping out to the early lead. A caution for a spinning Rod Ort on lap 7 closed
the field up on the rear bumper of Wolfe after he was able to open up a
comfortable lead. At the finish it was Wolfe picking up his second ASCS feature
win in a row over Dave Franek. Dave Ely came hone third, followed by Chad Layton
and Pat Cannon. Coleman Gulick actually came across the line in fifth, but was
penalized 2 spots at the finish for jumping the restart on lap seven. Cannon and
Ely were the heat race winners. Wofle won the ASCS dash race to claim the pole
position.
In an extremely competitive 50-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature event, 2006 SSP
Track Champion Larry Hughes, Jr. won his first feature of the season. Ray
Broderick and Hughes battled throughout the entire event, but a spin by
Broderick with two laps to go allowed Hughes to win the event by two car lengths
over Tom Johns.
In the first Class Car feature of the season at SSP, Bill Brown Sr. continued
his winning ways by leading all 15-laps of their caution filled main event.
Following Brown at the checkered, it was Allen Cullum, Jim Crocker, Jack
Yingling and Joe Alder. Heats were won by Brown, Sr. and Sndograss.

Snelbaker, Billet and Hauenstein Win
Rock-It Pizza Subs on Saturday Night at SSP
Newberrytown, PA (May 5, 2007) – On a beautiful Saturday night, the racing
action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Smokey Snelbaker picking up his
first Trail Motors Super Sportsman feature of the year. Carl Billet, Jr. won his
third Late Model feature in a row and Brian Hauenstein also picked up his first
SSP win of the season in the Street Stock main event.
The night began with the Paul Morgan and Kevin Sigler on the front row for the
20-lap Street Stock feature event. Morgan jumped out to the early lead with lots
of side-by side racing throughout the field. This continued until the caution
flew on lap three for multiple spinning cars coming out of turn four. All
drivers were able to continue the race.
On the restart, Morgan continued to lead. 2006 SSP Track Champion, Brian
Hauenstein began to move through the field from his sixth place starting
position. On a lap 10 restart, Hauenstein was in second and glued to Morgan’s
rear bumper. Sigler followed in third. Another caution on lap 11 for a spinning
Scott Thunberg bunched up the field yet again. On lap 12, Hauenstein finally
made the pass for the lead over Morgan, but was unable to pull away. Hauenstein
stayed on the high side with Morgan down low. In the waning stages of the race,
Hauenstein was able to gain a little breathing room to take his first win of the
season and collect the famous Rock-It Pizza sub. Morgan finished second with
George Eash in third coming all the way from an eighth place starting position.
Sigler and Joe Whitely rounded out the top five. Hauenstein, Paul Morgan and
Joey Hoffer won their Street Stock heat races.
In the Trail Motors Super Sportsman feature event, Don Biggs and Scott Grace
brought the field to the green. Biggs jumped out to the early lead with Smokey
Snelbaker following him into second and immediately challenged for the lead.
Snelbaker moved into the lead on the second circuit, but a flipping Pat Kelly in
turn one brought out the red flag and negated the pass for the lead. Kelly was
uninjured. On the restart, the point leader, Russ Mitten spun into the guardrail
in turn 3.
When racing action resumed, Snelbaker challenged Biggs again and made the pass
for the lead. This time him made it stick but not before a spinning Jamie Rupp
brought out the caution flag again on lap four. Snelbaker continued to lead, but
a five car battle for second ensued. On lap 7, last week’s winner Steve Wilbur
took command of second and set his sights on Snelbaker. The next lap, Nick
Bardsley spun and this bunched up the field. Under caution, Wilbur pulled beside
Snelbaker to let him know who was behind him. Smoke was not intimidated and
continued to lead. A red flag on lap 14 allowed crews to make adjustments for
their drivers. The red was flown to allow track crews to clean up the track due
to a blown engine from Scott Snyder. A six lap dash to the finish for the six
foot Rock It Pizza Sub found the most action on the last lap on the last turn
with a blanket being able to be thrown on the top three finishers. When the dust
settled, Snelbaker was the winner by a nose, followed by Wilbur and Craig Morrow
in a photo finish. New Jersey racers, Dan Biggs and Rich Janney finished out the
top five. Snelbaker and Grace won their respective qualifying heat races.
The 20-lap Late Model feature event started with Bud Barton jumping out to the
early lead, but Scott Richwine’s mechanical failure on the frontstretch brought
out the yellow and made it a complete restart. Once again under green, Barton
jumped out to the lead again over Mark Grey and Chuck Yingling. Spins at
opposite ends of the track slowed the field under yellow on lap 2.
Caution free racing continued for many laps and the SSP Late Model point leader
and 12th place starter, Carl Billet methodically moved his way through the field
and into second at the midway point. Billet began to stalk Barton as they
entered lapped traffic. With five to go, Billet moved down low and into the lead
past Barton. A caution flag for a stopped Mark Grey in turn three allowed Barton
to close up on Billet for a three lap chase for “The Sub.” Another caution on
lap 18 for a three car spin closed the field yet again.
On the restart, Billet pulled away and won his third straight feature event.
Gary Potts got by Barton on the last lap for second. Barton finished third with
Sterling Kinard and Jake Jones rounding out the top five. Sam Leonard, Jr.,
Billet and Barton won the Late Model heat races.
